Madrid, July 15, 2021. The first meeting of the Forum ‘Spain, Audiovisual Hub’ was held this Thursday, a space for dialogue and public-private collaboration that will contribute to promote the measures and investments foreseen in the Plan for the Promotion of the Audiovisual Sector, “Spain, Audiovisual Hub of Europe. This forum is one of the governance instruments envisaged and its constitution is in addition to that of the Interministerial Working Group, created on May 4.

The forum is attended by agents from the entire value chain of the audiovisual sector. Associations representing technology companies, including DigitalES, as well as radio and television entities, both private and public, and audiovisual companies from different subsectors: film production, series, video games, animation, video games, advertising production. The ministries involved in the implementation of the Plan also participate in the forum.

The Plan to boost the audiovisual sector, ‘Spain, Audiovisual Hub of Europe’, envisages a public investment of 1,603 million euros for the period 2021-2025, of which 200 million euros correspond to the resources of the Recovery Plan.

Spain, Audiovisual Hub of Europe’ is based on a broad conception of the audiovisual sector, encompassing not only traditional audiovisual content (fiction, audiovisual content production, animation, etc.), but also the multimedia and interactive digital environment, such as software development, video games, eSports and transmedia content or content that incorporates immersive experiences with visual effects or virtual reality.

The goal is to increase audiovisual production in Spain by at least 30% by 2025. The Plan also aims to create new distribution and marketing channels, boost the sector’s industry and diversify the supply of content for the public.

From DigitalES, Spanish Association for Digitalization, we thank the Government for the invitation to be part of this forum. Together, we will work to strengthen and promote the national audiovisual content industry. As the Plan itself acknowledges, this sector has undergone major changes in recent years.

Thus, from the technology employers’ association DigitalES We believe it would be desirable that within the framework of the Hub an aid plan be designed to promote and develop the audiovisual production sector in Spain, which protects and promotes the local industry through an attractive fiscal model that can be monetized in the short term, as well as a set of aids and incentives to accelerate investments.
