AULA 5G structured the first training classroom with full 5G antenna equipment inside the classroom in Europe, and remains the only one of its kind in Spain.

The Aula 5G project of DigitalES (Spanish Association for Digitalization) represents a paradigmatic and successful example of modernization of vocational training spaces. This project is easily scalable and replicable in the rest of the Autonomous Communities of our country.

The first 5G Classroom is located at the National Reference Center for IT Development and Communications (Community of Madrid), in the town of Getafe.

Since 2020, this infrastructure has been used for the training of 68 teachers, both from the Community of Madrid and from other Spanish Autonomous Communities. During the 2022-2023 academic year, a set of 6 itineraries was offered, preferably aimed at unemployed people, teachers and vocational training centers throughout the country.

Project phases

Phase I: ideation

DigitalES discussed with SEPE the need to train professionals in 5G technology, especially for installation and maintenance functions.

Phase I: ideation

DigitalES, in collaboration with several partner companies, Nokia, Telefónica, Vodafone and Ericsson, contributed with INCUAL in updating or modifying five professional qualifications, based on an analysis of 11 qualifications in the radio and data center fields:

– ELE482_2

– ELE485_3

– IFC079_3

– IFC156_3

– IFC362_2

Talent: human and digital

The course was then designed in the format requested by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, through the General Subdirectorate for Innovation in Vocational Training. This design was carried out between this Sub-Directorate and DigitalES, and its content consists of two main blocks:

– Implementation of communications network access equipment.

– Perform connection processes between private and public networks.

VET opportunities

Discussions were initiated to create a space to develop this training, the CRN of Getafe was chosen and the implementation of a classroom dedicated to training in the installation and maintenance of 5G infrastructure was financed.
