Fedea brought together three experts to analyze the state of digitalization in Spain and Europe in a dialogue moderated by Diego Rodríguez (UCM and Fedea). For about an hour, Emilio García (former Director of Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure and digital policy analyst), Carmen Sánchez (Director of Digital Regulation and Public Affairs at DigitalES) and Iñigo Herguera (Professor of Economics at the Complutense University and former Director of Studies and Statistics at the CMT) addressed the major regulatory, industrial and talent challenges of the European digital ecosystem.
The participants analyzed the new European proposal for the Digital Network Regulation (DNA), its implications for telecommunications operators and the progress – and shortcomings – in the harmonization of the European single market. They also examined the anticipated revision of the European Chip Law, the situation of the PERTE Chip in Spain and the need for a coherent industrial strategy in semiconductors in a geopolitical context marked by competition between the United States and China.
