Solve with DigitalES all your doubts about the second call for grants of the Digital Kit

DIGITAL NEXTGEN

September 1, 2022 – Tomorrow, September 2, is the deadline for SMEs between 3 and 9 workers to apply for a grant of 6,000 euros, within the Digital Kit program. This is the second call for applications under this program, after the call for applications for SMEs with between 10 and 49 workers was launched in March. A third and final call is pending, for SMEs and the self-employed with 0 to 2 employees, which will presumably be opened before the end of the year.

From DigitalES, Spanish Association for Digitalization, we have carried out a monitoring, information and dissemination of this program for the digital transformation of small and medium enterprises. As such, we have set up a very complete informative web space that includes answers to common questions about this Recovery Plan program, as well as links to the Red.es electronic headquarters, and to all related information of interest.

> Go to the SME page: https://www.digitales.es/lineas-de-trabajo/transformacion-digital-empresas/pymes/

In this web site you will also find all the information about the next ACTIVA grants for the digitalization of SMEs, which will be managed by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade.

Assessment of the first call for the Digital Kit

From DigitalES, we value positively how the Digital Kit program is working. In general terms, the deadlines for granting the digitalization bonds have been tight, the procedures for resolving incidents and corrections have been agile, and the program has achieved a good impact among SMEs in our country.

With a view to the second call, the Government has clarified some points that raised many questions during the previous call, and plans to continue to improve in terms of agility. In addition, from now on the Digital Kit will be able to pay for solutions that integrate hardware, thus fulfilling one of the main demands of our associates.

The success of this semi-automated model of aid management for the execution of massive volumes of applications will, in fact, be extended to other aid under the Recovery Plan. Among them, the aforementioned ACTIVA programs for digitalization advice.

In short, we believe that the Digital Kit will help to break down many fears about digitalization and that, together with other advisory and mentoring programs, it will help Spain to move in the right direction. For the definitive success of these public policies, it will be essential to accompany all the public impact achieved by the Digital Kit, as well as all the digital push that the Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to make, with an effort to enhance the pull effect that large companies can have in our country.

DigitalES participates in a debate on the impact of NextGen Funds on Spain’s competitiveness

EVENTS

June 23rd, 2022.- The digital media Innovaspain presented yesterday the tenth edition of its Yearbook of Innovation in Spain, which has as its main theme the European recovery funds. During the presentation event, in which DigitalES participated, proposals and inspiring examples of organizations that manage, receive and innovate thanks to these grants were discussed. It was thus clear that Next Generation EU funds are already beginning to be translated into projects and actions at all levels of the Spanish economy.

Likewise, ideas were shared on the potential tractor effect that local administrations and innovative startups have on the economic fabric of our country as a whole. Among the first, the cases of Malaga and Alcobendas were presented as reference cities in the management of European funds for the modernization of public services. Among the latter, we learned about the cases of EUROCYBCAR, which has developed a methodology to certify the cybersecurity of vehicles; and Bread Free, which has created the first wheat flour suitable for coeliacs. Both were founded just a few years ago and, thanks to European funds, have managed to continue innovating and advancing as companies.

The Innovation Yearbook, which can be downloaded here, gives a voice to public institutions, large companies, startups and different initiatives in order to know what they consist of and how the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan will affect the future of Spanish society.

DigitalES meets with Salvador Estevan, new General Director of Digitalization and AI

Madrid, October 27, 2021 – The CEO of DigitalES, Víctor Calvo-Sotelo, has held this week a fruitful meeting with the new General Director of Digitalization and AI of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Salvador Estevan. During the meeting, ideas were shared regarding the most imminent programs of this Secretary of State under the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. Among them, the first call for the so-called Digital Toolkit (or Digital Kit), which will offer grants to SMEs for the procurement or purchase of basic digital tools. This program will be endowed with 1,388 M€ in 2022, according to the draft General State Budget (PGE) presented by Carme Artigas in Congress this week.

During the first phase, the Digital Toolkit grants will be aimed at SMEs with between 10 and 50 employees. From the lessons learned regarding their effectiveness, the Secretary of State for Digitalization and AI will expand the focus of the program, starting in 2023, to micro-SMEs and the self-employed.

Download the Guide for the Digital Transformation of SMEs (DigitalES, 2021)

Another of the agency’s major items in 2022 will go to the digitization of public administrationincluding the development of a hybrid cloud infrastructure for the public sector, a factory for the development of open source mobile apps and services, and the improvement of cybersecurity in public organizations.

The funds earmarked for Artificial Intelligence and to the transition to a data economy are painted in several lines of the PGE 2022, being particularly interesting the lines destined to innovation and entrepreneurship projects in AI, as well as the “sectoral data spaces” for industries such as tourism and healthcare, with the upcoming creation of a data lake of health data.

Likewise, the Secretary of State for Digitalization and AI will be responsible for coordinating and executing a large part of the funds foreseen in the Digital Skills Plan; possibly the greatest challenge facing digital transformation in our country. The first funds for the digital training of citizens have been committed so far in 2021 and will be continued over the next few years.

In total, this Secretariat will manage 65% of the MRR funds allocated to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation.

“From the DigitalES association, we believe it is essential to continue promoting the contribution of the technology and digital sector to the recovery, through its participation in the funds provided for this purpose. In order to advance in the public-private collaboration that we have always defended, we continue with the work to increase both the internal dialogue between partners, and externally with other productive sectors and administrations. In this way, we hope to identify opportunities that will optimize the capture of European funds and accelerate the digitalization of our country”, Calvo-Sotelo recently declared, in the framework of the constitution of the sectorial working groups on the Recovery Plan.
