Madrid, September 30, 2021 – From tomorrow until next Sunday at noon, the semifinals and the Final Phase of the University Debate League (LEDU) 2021 will be held. It will be at the MIRA theater in Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid).

During the last few days, the finalist teams have been receiving mentoring from the following DigitalES partners: Capgemini Engineering, Deloitte, Ericsson, Everis NTT Data, Huawei, Interxion, Lexmark, Mastercard, NAE, Nokia, Telefónica, VMware and ZTE. An experience from which we have obtained very positive feedback, both from students and professionals.

The mission of the mentors is to advise the university students in the research and planning of their arguments during the preparation of this edition’s question: Is Spain preparing for a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable digitalization?

As part of the collaboration between DigitalES and LEDU, nine associates of our association will also be part of the jury. They are Adevinta, Capgemini Engineering, Deloitte, Ericsson, Interxion, Islalink, Mastercard, Nae and ZTE, who will be joined by Víctor Calvo-Sotelo on behalf of DigitalES.

The jury for the final will be chaired by Albert Rivera, former president of Ciudadanos, current executive president of Martínez-Echevarría & Rivera Abogados and director of the Leadership Institute of CES Cardenal Cisneros. Rivera won the second edition of the LEDU League in 2001, with the Universitat Ramon Llull team.

During this edition of LEDU, a total of 58 teams from the following 26 Spanish universities participated: Santiago de Compostela, Autónoma de Madrid, Málaga, Villanueva, Jaén, CUNEF, Carlos III, Burgos, Zaragoza, Balearic Islands, Seville, Valencia, Cantabria, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Alcalá de Henares, Cardenal Herrera, Salamanca, Granada, Francisco de Vitoria, Rey Juan Carlos, Córdoba, Complutense, Ramón Llull, Barcelona, Basque Country and European Miguel de Cervantes.

The teams that reach the Final Phase will receive a cash prize of 6,000 euros for the winner and 3,000 euros for the runner-up.

***From DigitalES, we would like to thank the mentors for their help and wish luck to all the finalists.

“The technology and digital industry in Spain employs professionals who are absolutely committed to helping new generations learn what their work consists of, what projects are being developed in our country and how digitalization can help create a better world. They do a magnificent job as role-models, promoting STEM vocations, values and knowledge that are much needed in our country,” said Javier Miranda, head of the Training and Employment Area of DigitalES.

DigitalES performs an intensive task of supporting the digital training of citizens, from schooling to university, vocational training and dual vocational training, through business retraining programs or public courses for the unemployed.

Among other initiatives underway, the employers’ association is involved in the creation of a network of career counselors, together with the Bertelsmann Foundation, promoter of the Alliance for Dual Vocational Training.
