The employers’ association of electrical companies aelēc and DigitalES have signed a collaboration agreement to harmonize and coordinate training in occupational risk prevention (ORP) between the telecommunications and electrical sectors. The initiative establishes a framework for cooperation that will raise safety standards and improve training efficiency in both sectors.

The alliance is part of the Telco Training Standard Training Agreement, which unifies the training and qualification of the telecommunications sector. This framework is complemented by the OHS Training Standard for the Electricity Sector, developed to guarantee high levels of quality in a critical area for the electricity sector.

Thanks to this agreement, DigitalES and aelēc will share training programs, prevention content and best practices, incorporating the experience of the telco sector, which has one of the lowest accident rates in the country. The cooperation seeks to avoid duplication, facilitate the mobility of workers between the two sectors and reinforce safety in jobs that converge in the field, such as electrical and telecommunications installations.

Paloma Sevilla, CEO of aelēc, emphasized that “this agreement represents a decisive step towards a more coherent and robust occupational safety model. Collaboration between sectors is essential to ensure homogeneous practices, improve efficiency and continue moving towards safer working environments. Training harmonization is a necessary condition to face with guarantees the deployment of networks and new infrastructures demanded by the energy transition“.

The general manager of DigitalES, Miguel Sánchez Galindo, pointed out that “occupational safety is a strategic pillar for the development of the networks that support digitalization and the energy transition. This agreement with aelēc allows us to make a qualitative leap in training and preventive culture, favoring more solid and homogeneous standards in two sectors that share more and more field operations. We thus contribute to a professional ecosystem that is better prepared, safer and better trained to face the challenges posed by the deployment of new infrastructures.

Both organizations agree that this alliance opens the door to future improvements and harmonization of training standards, with the aim of strengthening the preventive culture and ensuring the highest quality in the technical work that drives digitization and energy transition in Spain.
